Life Rafts
Life rafts are used in aircrafts and vessels (RBA/RMA) in emergencies to transport people from their endangered sinking vessel, to safety. Ship crews and passengers may find themselves depending on them , therefore the raft needs be in excellent condition at all times.
Magam developed and manufactures rafts suitable for other aircrafts as well as Marine life rafts, including models for yachts, merchant vessels, passenger liners and cruise ships.
Our Solution
Magam’s top of the line life rafts are made of rubber, as opposed to the more commonly used thermoplastic rafts, giving them a longer life span and making them easy to fix. Furthermore, Magam’s rafts are dual chambered for maximum safety and each chamber can hold the raft’s maximum weight.
Magam manufactures different types of life rafts for aerial and maritime use (RBA/RMA) and available in sizes from 1 person up to 26 persons according to the SOLAS requirement.
In the case of life rafts for helicopters, Magam took on the challenge and in cooperation with the IAF, created a solution. After testing the option of an external storage chamber, which was found to inefficient due to the effect of extreme weather conditions, it was accepted that the only spare room for the rafts inside the aircraft was the very limited space under the passenger seats. Magam developed a fully operational, minimally sized life raft that is perfectly tailored to the small space available in the helicopter, resulting in one of the world’s most compact solutions.
As well as developing, customizing and producing these life saving vessels, Magam has also licensed testing and servicing site for local and foreign vessels passing through Israeli waters. Certified by Israel’s Ministry of Transport, Shipping and Ports Authority, Magam works in accordance with the SOLAS Convention.
